Drink a beer...

But just one...

I worked from 12-6 today like every Saturday. Upon coming near my house however, I didn't want to turn into Shiner Lane. Instead, like every time when I deliberate about what I should do, i pulled out my coin. Heads to go out, tails to go home. Heads won all 3 times. It was decided. Not much of a socializing kind of guy, I had no clue where to go. 7 in the afternoon on a Saturday, i was pretty sure everyone had an agenda so i didn't bother to pick up the phone. I just maneuvered my way around the Bellaire traffic and eventually started speeding down Westheimer. As I drove past restaurants and bars, i realized that my Gf's birthday would be coming up in a week or so, thus i took the opportunity to look at all the restaurants that populated this infamous area of town and weighed my options of where we could go. Last year, we went to 17. More on that later. TA and I had recently just went to a newly opened sushi bar/grill call Raz's sushi and i really liked the atmosphere so i just thought i'd head there. By the time i got to the Galleria however, traffic was horrible at the intersections and Kona Grill just so happened to be on my right. Not thinking twice, i turned into the Garage and parked my car in LL2, which i assume is Lower Level 2.
I've never been to a bar by myself but i've always wondered how it was to just go hang out at a bar after a long week of working. I settled myself at the bar and ordered XX (dos equis), a new beer which i've just recently been introduced to. Surprisingly, it's one of the best i've had.
On a side note, I recently read a study conducted by University College of London that beer may lower your risk of heart attack. That is, if you only drink one a day. Men who drink two or more will most likely lose that extra protection. The theory behind it is that the ethanol in the beer thins the blood and help protects the heart. So kudos to beer as the next most welcomed heart medicine.
After a chicken and shrimp with romaine, crab special roll, and against my better judgement, two dos equis, i went home. Another unique experience added to my book.

The time i created this blog and decided that i would start writing again. Interestingly, it's a palindrome number. A word i learned in 4th grade in Mr. Yager's class, and somehow it's been imprinted in my mind ever since. I'm not sure whether that's because i have a love for math or because i'm a logophile. I still remember when i just came to the U.S. and my vocabulary consisted of a limited amount of words which could be counted on the tips of my fingers. It's been a long road since then. I can hardly say that i'm good at English now, but going from learning ESL and getting my best friend to translate everything for me to tutoring SAT sessions is quite a metamorphosis. For anyone wanting to improve their vocabulary, whether it be for trying to improve your verbal scores on standardized tests like SAT, PCAT, MCAT, GRE, or any of those sorts, or just for fun and kicks, I highly recommend "Not Too Scary Vocabulary." Although it might look a bit corny and somewhat children-like, the content and substance it carries is remarkable. Being a bad Asian, I rarely ever buy anything legit, but i have to say that spending money on those CDs were money well spent. It will really make a difference and you will actually enjoy learning regardless of the age you're at.
